In practical applications, the output signal type of the temperature transmitter is of great significance because it directly affects the accuracy and stability of temperature measurement and the reliability of data transmission. The main output signal types include analog signals and digital signals.
Analog signal is a traditional and common output method, usually using current or voltage signal to represent the temperature measurement value. Among them, 4-20mA and 0-10V are the two most common analog signal outputs. The range of the 4-20mA signal corresponds to the lowest and highest values of the measured temperature, and the 0-10V signal also has similar characteristics. Analog signals have the advantages of signal stability, long transmission distance, and strong anti-interference ability, so they are widely used in many industrial scenarios. In addition to 4-20mA and 0-10V, there are some other types of analog signals, such as 1-5V, 2-10V, etc., but they are less used in industrial applications.
Different from analog signals, digital signals are a digital output method with higher data transmission speed and accuracy. Common digital signals include protocols such as HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Profibus, and Modbus. These protocols allow temperature transmitters to transmit temperature measurements and other information in digital form, enabling real-time monitoring and remote control. For example, the HART protocol allows temperature measurements to be output via a 4-20mA analog signal and additional diagnostic and configuration information to be transmitted via digital communication. Protocols such as FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Profibus and Modbus are more suitable for digital communication needs in large-scale industrial automation systems.
When selecting the output signal type, a variety of factors need to be considered comprehensively, including the characteristics of the application scenario, system compatibility, communication methods, data transmission speed requirements, and requirements for signal stability and anti-interference capabilities. For example, in industrial scenarios where long-distance transmission is required and interference requirements are high, analog signals may be more suitable. In scenarios where digital transmission and remote monitoring are required, digital signal output is more likely to be selected. In addition, for some special application scenarios, factors such as signal security, data encryption, and communication protocol compatibility may also need to be considered.
